Academic, art, drama, music and sport scholarships are all awarded.
Academic scholarships (worth 15% of fees and finishing in Year 11) are awarded to pupils moving into Year 7, on the basis of a candidate's performance in our scholarship examinations.
Art, drama and sport scholarships (worth 10% of fees) are awarded to pupils moving into Year 7 and finish in Year 11.
- In Art, pupils are asked to present a portfolio of work, produce a piece of work under examination conditions and attend an interview with the College's Head of Art and Design.
- In Drama, pupils will attend a practical session with the College's Head of Drama to explore reactions and responses to various stimuli (acting, mime, verse, reading, working with a group, creating, etc.).
Music scholarships are available from Year 7 (worth 10% of fees and finishing at the end of Year 11). A music candidate will be expected to have reached a minimum standard of Grade 3 on her main instrument or voice. In the audition, she should be prepared to perform two contrasting pieces on her first study, with one piece on her second study if offered, in addition to scales and aural tests, and to take part in an interview with the Director of Music.
Music Awards (lessons paid for in one instrument) are also available for particularly talented students.
Sixth Form scholarships: up to two Academic Scholarships (15% of fees) and Art, Drama, Music and Sport Scholarships (10% of fees) are available. The Foundation Scholarship is also available for girls who are planning to study Law or Medicine at university. This prestigious award combines work experience and mentoring, along with 15% remittance on fees.
Bursaries:
- Bursaries are available for daughters of the clergy and members of the armed forces from Year 9 onwards.
- Sibling bursaries of 5% of fees are awarded from Year 7 onwards to the youngest daughter(s), ceasing when only one daughter remains at the College.
-
The College offers means-tested bursaries covering up to 100% of fees, and such awards can be extended to include agreed extra charges. Parents of girls seeking bursary assistance should indicate their interest during the application process and will then be asked to complete an application form. Means-tested bursaries may be reviewed annually and revised. It is also a condition of any award that parents advise the school of material changes in their financial position that may lead to the level of their bursary being adjusted upwards or downwards.
