Main School Boarding

Boarding in the main boarding house is like being part of an extended family. Friendships made whilst boarding last a life-time as the ‘old girls' would testify.

The Main House is run by House Mistress, Mrs Debbie Dwyer. The boarding house is a caring community and great care is taken to ensure that the year groups mix rather than divide – the model is based on one of older and younger sisters. The benefits in mixing the different year groups have enormous academic and social benefits.
In the earlier years, girls share small, friendly dormitories with others of their age. Here they settle quickly into the family environment. As they progress through the school, individual study bedrooms are the norm.
  • The largest room is for four to six pupils.
  • Most other rooms are either doubles or single.
  • Year 11 pupils all have a single room but can share if they choose.
  • The duty room is where all year groups gather and spend time with each other.
  • All girls are given the opportunity to say which room they prefer to sleep in.
  • The boarders have their own evening common rooms. These are organised into each year group with TV, video/dvd, hi-fi system. Older year groups have kitchen equipment in their common rooms, younger year groups use the provisions in the duty room.
