By studying Economics and Business Studies, you are beginning the process of gaining an understanding about the exciting and ever-changing contemporary business world. You will have opportunities to develop an understanding of economic concepts and their impact on society, as well as gaining an understanding of organisations and their ability to meet society's needs and wants. This course requires students to interpret economic data and to use both qualitative and quantitative methods to make justifiable decisions, taking into account opportunity costs.
GSCE Business Studies is a popular option that allows pupils to develop their confidence in both decision-making and problem solving. A range of topics is covered and pupils complete a business project which represents 25% of their total grade.
AS- and A-level Economics students are comfortable using IT to solve problems, completing financial calculations and writing reports based on their findings.
Lessons are varied and make good use of a variety of resources including IT, videos, current magazine articles and visits.
AS-level has two written papers, involving multiple-choice questions and data-response questions.
A-level has two written papers, involving data response questions, case study questions and a decision-making report.
