Princess Helena College

The Entente Cordiale between Britain and France lived on this week through our French exchange between PHC and Centre Madeleine Danielou in Paris. All the French families, without exception, were very welcoming as was the school itself. PHC girls and staff enjoyed trips into Paris each day where we visited La Tour Eiffel, Notre Dame, Montmartre, where many of our girls had their portraits done and Le Palais de Versailles where our guide entertained us with tales of the extravagance of Louis XV1th and Marie Antoinette and the causes of the French revolution. At the week-end Years 8 and 9 stayed in their French families meeting up with other families for days out to Disneyland, a boat trip along the Seine and France Miniature, to name but a few.

Sarah Martinelli would like to thank Susan Vinther and Magali Burnichon for all their invaluable support throughout the week and to say a big Félicitations to all girls in Year 8 and 9 who coped admirably with their first stay in a french family. Many good friendships were made and all the families commented on how great all the girls were. Hannah Dixon and Jess Pattison-Blain both said how proud of themselves they felt by the end of the week, at being able to understand most of what was being said. We look forward to hosting 27 French girls from our Paris partners from 27th November to 4th December and know that we at PHC will all give them the same fantastic welcome that we received in France
