The annual Inter House drama competition took place on Wednesday 28 April and saw all three houses perform sections from the fairy tale The Glass Slipper.
The competition was judged by Mr Keith Miller and Miss Stella Neave and all three segments were enjoyed thoroughly by the audience. Miss Neave thanked all the participants for an “absolutely wonderful morning's entertainment” before announcing Windsor as the winners.
Windsor's set was singled out for particular praise, and Miss Neave commented on how the cast had created a complete and believable world and performed with good pace, energy and interaction. Gloucester's Fairy Godmother, played by Rebecca Day, was highly praised, as were the Ugly Sisters (Jessica Pattison-Blain and Alexandra Vickerstaff), with their costumes and eyelashes of particular note. The York finale to the show was congratulated for the beautiful touches of physical drama and the grace and dignity of Maria Minchenko's Queen, who was a marked contrast to the wacky and unusual Stepmother and Ugly Sisters (Julia Dearden, Rachel Bruce and Verity Bruce).
