Model United Nations Comes To PHC

This Saturday, Princess Helena College held its first Model United Nations event. Seven schools including Abbot's Hill, Bedford Modern, Princess Helena College, The Priory School, Hitchin, St Andrew's School, Bedford, St Francis' College and St Martin's School, Northwood,  attended the conference for Years 8-9 and 12 countries were represented. The conference was innovative for being arranged specifically for younger stduents.

The event covered the Ecology and Environment Committee, Human Rights Committee and Economic and Social Policy Committee and the delegates spent the morning debating the topics and preparing resolutions.

The event was organised and run by a fantastic team of Year 11 students.:

who were supported by Ellie Cornberg, Ella Dutton, Jodie Fincham, Lizzie Jarvill and Kitt Spicer from Year 8 as Assistant Committee Chairs.

The Committee Chairs praised the enthusiasm and confidence of the delegates and presented the overall prize to the delegation from St Martin's School, Northwood, which represented Kenya.

Ms Hutchinson, who organised the event, said she was delighted with the hard work of all the delegates. She gave specific thanks to all the Chairs and Assistant Chairs. who ran the conference so smoothly.
