Girls at Princess Helena College in Preston celebrated another fantastic set of results at A level, with 65% of all examinations being passed with A*, A or B grades.
Headmistress, Mrs Jo-Anne Duncan, commented, “I am delighted by all the excellent grades achieved and wish to congratulate the girls and staff on their hard work. I am particularly proud of those girls who achieved straight A* and A grades in the 3, 4 or 5 exams they took.
“It is very pleasing to see great success in Mathematics, with 100% of all exams being passed at A*-B in Further Mathematics and 100% at A*-C in Mathematics. It is also wonderful that we continue to achieve outstanding results in Art, where 62% of our girls achieved an A* or A grade,” she continued. Head Girl, Amy Keast, who achieved an A* in Art and Design, is off to Reading to study Graphic Communication, while Deputy Head Girl, Yi Yi Liu, is taking up her place to study Mathematics after achieving two A*s and two A grades. Other successes include 100% A*-B grades in English Literature, Media Studies, French, Government and Politics, and Music.
Ms Rachel Poston, Deputy Head (Academic), added, “We are very pleased that, on average, girls have achieved more than one grade higher in each subject than their CAT scores predicted, which shows significant value added. In fact, 50% of girls achieved at least two grades higher in two or more of their subjects, which is a fantastic result.”
