Orchard Replanting

PHC's Orchard

Older OGs in particular will remember the beautiful orchard that was beyond the Sunk Lawn, and stretching up towards Dower. For many years I have been trying to begin a fundraising campaign for the replanting, and now at long last this is possible. Donations can be for, or towards, the purchase of a tree, the planting of daffodils around it, the wire fence around the orchard to protect against deer, rabbits etc., and the maintenance.

With the very first donation came this excerpt from the donor's letter:

Thank you for your letter of 9 March 2011 regarding the exciting plans to replant the orchard at PHC; how wonderful! Like you, I recall with great fondness lying under the trees; in my case, in the sunny May of 1969 pre-A levels, revising to the hum of bees going about the pollination of the fruit blossoms; all too heavenly for words, and one of my most treasured life moments!
