I would like to congratulate all of the girls who went to Malta. We had a rocky start, with illnesses and injuries, but we pulled together to put out an extremely strong team. They played exceptionally well throughout the week, with some very good results.
The first two days were predominantly coaching based, where their old coach Sydne Wick coached the girls attacking and defensive skills. Our first match was against Lady Eleanor Holles (LEH) B team, where we won 7-5. This evening was followed by one of the best evenings of the tour: the foam party!
Our second match on Wednesday was against Claremont Fan Court B team, where we again won 9-7. We then went into the local town of Bugibba, where the girls were treated with a crepe and time to play in the arcade.
Friday was our well deserved rest day, where we visited the beach, went bowling, shopping and finally treated to an amazing meal in the Hard Rock Café in St Julians.
We soon had to get back to business, with the final tournament games to be played on Saturday. Our first match was against Pipers Corner, where we won 11-0, and really got to put into action the new skills we had learned. We then had Claremont and LEH A teams, where we unfortunately lost, but gave them very tough games. This day was finished off in an amazing venue, with great food and disco and the final presentations to the teams.
Overall in the tournament we came 3rd, winning over half of our matches. The girls should be incredibly proud of themselves and their achievements.
